Any questions ?

Hi All,

The sun is out , the sky is blue. The summer is here and hopefully it will stay! (:

As we will be blogging a bit lighter during these times of great sunshine*, which will hopefully be for much of the week, if you have any questions please leave them in the thread below and me, David, Sam & Esther will attempt to answer them.

So fire away in the comments section on any topic, however frivolous or serious…

* Dave's away on business, I'm busy writing, Esther's gallivanting around the country and Sam's just being Sam.

I don't take the genesis creation account literally. Again this is well within the bounds of traditional authentic Orthodox Judaism.

  22. We don't, it is as simple as that. It is Biblical commandment to love the stranger and neighbour e.g. Leviticus 19, 18 & 33 to 34 & Deuteronomy 10, 17 to 19 . You will note the use of the word 'neighbour'. If these commandments applied to Jews only it would have been 'love thy brother or kinsmen'.

  23. Some Jews do believe in heaven and hell, others don't. Some Jews actually believe in reincarnation (I kid you not!). I believe that there is an afterlife or
Olam Ha-Ba, the entry requirement for heaven is about how you've acted, not what you profess to believe or the Mitzvots that you've done or not done . There is also a heaven called Gan Eden, which most people will go to, but first there is a period of purification or reflection (no more than 12 months) in a place called Gehinnom or She'ol. I also believe that the most evil & wicked of people of this earth remain in Gehinnom in a state of consciousness and remorse for their actions (others believe this is akin to the Christian hell or that the souls of the evil are simply destroyed). Gan Eden itself is likened to the feeling after having sex or to feel the warmth of sunshine on your face; it is also suggested that our Shabbat meal is a fraction of the glory that awaits us. I like the analogy of the Shabbat meal, as it means more than the harp on the cloud of other mythologies. And to answer your other question, yes, non-Jews also go to Gan Eden, our literature says the righteous of all nations have a place in the world to come; again based upon action, not on belief or profession of faith in G-d.

  24. Hi Colin,

This is the Ultra Orthodox to Orthodox who do so. It is because both men and women are bound by Jewish rules of modesty called tzeniuth. Women wearing wigs pertains to married women only, though, and not all do. Others will wear scarfs and bandanas. Men are always excepted to cover their heads which is why they wear Kippah. My bro wears a black hat sometimes, but I don't think to him it is anything to do with religious practice.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Gordon,
We don't convert people because we believe all nations, peoples and other religious all have a place in the world to come .What matters is how you act today. You can convert, but it is a long process and isn't a demand we place upon people.

  27. No, I am a Jew and follow the Jewish faith. I have respect for and have friends who are Christians. I find Messianic Jews are somewhat confused as to what Christianity is and what Judaism is; it's kinda like Mormonism in its relationship to Christianity.

  33. We Jews are steeped in tradition. In principal I don't have any objection to men and women mixing in the Synagogue service. I agree with the purity laws, but I know my sister will want to say something about them, so I shall hold fire for now.

  34. Too many favourite foods! That's what I love about Judaism - every festival has its own set of foods and every Shabbat it is a positive commandment to eat well and enjoy food and wine in the company of friends and family. That's why I like my religion so much.

  36. You'd have to cross reference this to the reply I'm going to make about my spiritual journey.

Theologically, from my understanding of my own holy book, the Hebrew Bible-

    1. I don't believe the New Testament
    2. I believe the prophecies fulfilled in Jesus were conveniently troweled through & found in the Hebrew bible to make them "fit" the Christian narrative
    3. I don't believe a human blood sacrifice is necessary for G-d to forgive sins and this was shown repeatedly in the Hebrew Bible
    4. I don't agree with original sin; we are born with the capacity to do good or evil
    5. G-d cannot become human and humans do not become G-d
6.G-d is one and indivisible and not 3 parts
    7. There is a difference between the Jewish satan and the christian devil.
8 One person cannot die for the sins of another.

Personally, I feel that the Church has harmed my people too much, I could never become a Christian. It would feel like a betrayal. I got close to it. But the Evangelicals I was connected to, hated gays; it wasn't enough to be single, but that the orientation itself was a sin, so that put me off for life.

Hannah's given you an answer below. I wear a black fedora, because my first wife- Chabad rebel that she was- still loved her traditions. So she got me a big black hat, put it on and said 'YOU look SEXY in that' . And my second wife agrees .

  50. I like Brother Nathaniel..I think hes doing a great job…Because he has been ON THE INSIDE…and graciously shares with us the deep dark secrets of Jews and Judaism…I think hes a valuable asset..

I do not see him EVER trying to be superior to anyone..but is a humble man…

I like him..I have not seen any reason yet to distrust him..I read ALOT of what he says…BECAUSE LIKE I SAID…Hes from the inside..and GRATIOUSLY has shared with all of us…the deep dark secrets of Judaism…at his own peril…

Hes exposed the ADL..ACLU….SPLC….JEWISH BOLSHEVISM…THE JEWISH YOUNG TURKS OF ARMENIA….AND THE MANY GENOCIDES OF THE JEWS….WHO HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BLOODIEST CENTURY OF EARTHS HISTORY..

God noted this in the bible…REVELATION 18:23-24…I think the Jews are the people of Genesis 3:15..ITS QUITE OBVIOUS that Cain is not listed as Adam son….There are Canaanites..adn Adamite peoples on the earth..

THAT IS WHY THERE IS A SPIRITUAL WAR..and when people begin to understand there are TWO FLESH on earth..then everything going on will make more sense..

THEY ARE CONDEMNED BY GOD…and that explains why these Elites spray poison in the air…..pervert the seeds……clone animals…AND DO ALL THE VERY SAME THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE DAYS OF NOAH…if you will read the Bible..you will see this is all mentioned..This is probably why Sodom and Gormorrah were also destroyed.

THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN..ITS ALL HAPPENED BEFORE..

ARCHEOLOGY HAS PROVEN…WERE NOT THE FIRST HIGH TECH GENERATION IN EARTHS HISTORY…..There were others before us…its just that HISTORY IS HIDDEN by the Sons of Cain..the Kennites/Rechabites WHO ARE the Zionist today…

Alot of bible eschatology in media…is from the Babylon Talmud..not the bible.

EVER HEARD THIS IN YOUR TALMUDIZED CHURCHS OF TODAY? SOME SEMINARIES AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY…were JUDIAZIED…TALMUDIZED with the Rothschilds SCOFIELD BIBLE…a bible with corrupt footnotes to support all this Jews as the chosen..a State of Israel..3rd Jew temple…animal sacrifices..etc..NONE OF WHICH IS ANYWHERE IN THE BIBLE..The Jews perverted Daniel 9:25

DANIEL 9:25..It is Christ who made a covenant with many…NOT THE KABBALIST TALMUDIC ANTI CHRIST MAN..

It is Christ who stopped the animal sacrifices….NOT THE KABBALIST TALMUDIC ANTI CHRIST MAN..

The Jews claim that since their mythical Anti Christ man did these things..that there must be a State of Israel..and a 3rd temple for animal sacrifices…

The bible ALSO warned us there would be many claiming to be Christs…Many Jewish Rabbis have done this

  60. What are Sephardi Jews?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hi Terry,

Sephardi Jews, we are one part of Judaism, the other being, like my lovely girlfriend Sarah, Ashkenazi. Way back in history, Spain (Sephard) had a large Jewish population (dating back to the Bible, read Obadiah), which is why we are called "Sephardi", that is a Jew of Spain. We lived there for centuries at peace and there was a period of fantastic learning in which many famous Rabbis were born, such as Moses Maimonides.

Alas , when Christianity reconquered Spain from Islam, the rulers (under the guise of religious devotion to the Catholic Church) expelled and ethnically cleansed Jews from Spain in 1492; those who remained were FORCED to convert to Christianity and subject to the Inquisition, to make sure they weren't really secretly still Jews. The bulk of the community, however, moved to the rest of Southern Europe, North Africa, the middle east and Asia, joining existing ancient communities that had lived in these areas for thousands of years and this is true of my family whose ancestors came from Spain, the Yemen and Iraq. In Britain, Sephardi Jews are the oldest community to live here after Oliver Cromwell permitted the return to of Jews to England in 1656.

My Matrilineal family (you are Jewish if your mother is Jewish) came from a very old Iraqi Jewish family & like the rest of the Jewish community in Iraq was educated, middle class and whose Orthodoxy was moderate, not extreme, before they and the rest of the Jewish community were systematically ethnically cleansed, in 1948 and managed to escape to either Israel or Britain, my mum met my dad (of Anglo-Irish descent), he converted to Judaism, married her and the rest is history.

We have a different prayer book and languages called Ladino and Judao -Arabic, which are a mixture of ancient Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic. Our culture reflects that of the geographical regions we came from, especially our food. So we eat more than bagels, Gefilte fish & Cholent! In Israel we are also know as Mizrahi or 'eastern' or 'oriental' Jews.

So we have our own prayer book, language (Ladino) & culture which is distinct from the Northern European based Ashkenazi Jews, whose ordinary language is Yiddish. ; my family also spoke Arabic as a first language. Our theological outlook is 'Orthodox', but Sephardi in the middle east never went through the splits of European Jewry, into Haredi, Conservative, Reform, Orthodox etc, so it tended traditionally to be more broad, tolerant, inclusive, emphasising community, family & the spirit, not the letter of the law. Also unlike Europe, Jews were not shoved into ghettos, so are more open to non-Jews with an emphasis on both secular and religious education (for both sexes). After the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Arab countries in 1948, we mostly live in Israel, UK, France, US & Canada, but our culture and Judaism survives in those of us who continue to keep the flame lit on our culture and religious outlook.
