My heart is dancing in Jerusalem

“And to Jerusalem, Your city, may You return in compassion, and may You rest within it, as you have spoken.”

Jewish Liturgy

Hi All,

This song* is about those many communities which have return to Eretz Yisrael , namely Jews from Yemen, Iraq, Morrocco, Ethiopia & Russia. When me and Rachel (that is my twin sister) visited Israel last year, we both seriously thought about making Aliyah (that is return to Israel). Whilst we are still thinking about it,things have changed a bit in both of our lives, so neither of us are moving just yet. But we both along ,I think, will all of us here, are strong supporters of Israel and Zionists (this does not make us into rabid fanatics, nor does it mean we don't believe or want a lasting peace for both Israelis and Arabs). So long may Israel  live, prosper and be a light to the nations of this world.

  1. Great Song! I know what you mean. I really thought I'd do it, but I also feel that the Jewish community here needs me. Perhaps I might be drawn to make Aliyah at some stage. But I'll always be rooting for Israel, no matter what (:

Like! I said in other thread, perhaps we could all go on a long weekend to Israel in the winter?

  5. Hey Hannah and Rachel,

I'm sure G-d will guide you (and all of us) regarding where we are supposed to be and what we are supposed to do. Let's just keep going, living our faith and listen.

  6. Jerusalem was won by the Jews during the war in 1967( after vicious hand to hand fighting) after 19 years in Jordanian hands (Jordanian not Palestinian note). During this time 1948-1967over 50 synagogues were destroyed and looted and all Jews were expelled. The Jewish cemetery on the mount of olives was desecrated and gravestones (some as old as 2500 years) were destroyed. The Western wall area became a slum.

I cannot see any way that the Jews will let the Arabs (Palestinians as they are now known) have control over this area that cost so many lives to liberate. I may be wrong but I doubt it. My cousin who is Jewish lived in East Jerusalem for nearly 25 years (between 1978 and 2002 and had many Arab friends. I vised him many times and saw the Jewish and Arab children playing together. He was forced out after the start of the 2nd intifada when his house was firebombed and he was not alone.

The last thing I wanted to say was if the Arabs had achieved their goals in any of the wars with Israel what are the odds of them giving the vast majority of the land they had captured back to the Jews in exchange for peace?

This is because the Palestinians and their Arab brothers are fighting against a brutal and illegal occupation. Israel is in fact an apartheid state and needs to be dismantled NOW and one state set up for both the Jewish minority and the Palestinian majority, with the million of refugees to return to Israel.
Israel is a racist, apartheid state because -
    1) The racist “Law of Return”, which grants Israeli citizenship to any Jewish person from anywhere in the world, but denies return and citizenship to any Palestinian who lived all his life in what became Israel and whose ancestors had lived there for many generations.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Retu...

    2) Internally displaced Palestinians (Israeli Arabs) during the 1948 war were not allowed to return to their towns and villages, and their property was confiscated by the Israeli government. Most petitions to Israeli courts went unheard. In the very few cases where Israeli courts granted some Palestinians right to return, the Israeli military blocked such orders and never allowed Palestinians to return.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Present_abs...

    3) Marriage Law: Where Arab Israelis can not obtain residency or citizenship to their spouses if they marry a Palestinian from the West Bank or Gaza Strip.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_and_...

Israeli discrimination against Arabs by practice:

    1) Israeli Arabs and their towns and village are not offered the same level of funding or services as Jewish ones. You see that through measured socio-economic statistics dealing with poverty, unemployment, access to government services and education, house construction and funding for municipalities.

    2) Arabs are often denied employment in the public sector citing that they do not serve in the Israeli army. Just recently there was mass firing of Arab Israelis from diplomatic missions, who were replaced by Jews based on this excuse.

    3) Racist statements are being made by senior political, religious and military Israeli leaders against Arabs, with absolutely no legal or political consequence. Calls to expel Israeli Arabs and/or to revoke their citizenship are made by many Israeli officials and Knesset members too often.

You can add to the above the Israeli discriminatory practices against the Palestinians of Jerusalem, which Israel illegally annexed. While Israel is building illegal Jewish only settlements all around East Jerusalem, it is denying the Arabs any building permits. Not only that, there are thousands of pending orders to demolish Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem because Israel says they were built without permits. Israel has passed many laws that make it increasingly more difficult for Jerusalem Arabs to maintain their residency in the city. It is a policy of gradual ethnic cleansing of the city.

In all of the above, I have only considered Israeli Arabs. As for Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the apartheid practices and discrimination are at their extreme, where Palestinians there are treated as sub-humans by the Israeli. Israeli practices there resemble closely those of the Nazis.

"The so-called ‘Palestinian autonomous areas’ are bantustans. These are restricted entities within the power structure of the Israeli apartheid system.”
    - Nelson Mandela

  14. Your propaganda does make me chuckle. But then I look at the news and see what is going on in Iraq and wonder why a person of the liberal left is so fixated about what Israel is doing so wrong, yet is constantly silent on the atrocities and treatment of minorities (gays, christians, women) throughout the middle east. The hypocrisy is astounding.

PS- "Trying to have an in depth conversation with them is comparable to teaching a cat algebra, or talking to a brick wall"

Why bother posting here then? No one forces you to write this drivel you know.
