Who says Orthodox Jews are unable to talk about sex or sexuality openly ?
“The moment you see orgasm as a transcendent experience and one that can lead to mystical union, it’s truly transformative. We don’t know how to deal with orgasm in American sexuality. For us, it’s just something that proves that the sexual encounter is over. The whole experience of sex is a means to an end. It leads to bad sex and short sex.”
– Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, author of the new book “Kosher Lust”
Wow, that's quite a 'kinky' quote for a Rabbi. Rav Shumley is a good 'un :)
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the quote from ? Shouldn't you attribute it ? Glad to see a Rabbi is so honest, though, about sex /sexuality. I think Shumley is Sephardi, though, so perhaps that helps, as we aren't as prudish.

ReplyDeleteGood point. I believe that the Rav's family is of Persian descent, so yes Sephardi in broadest sense of the word. Reminds me of my first wife's family, as he is a Chabad chap. Re the cites- he linked to the quote via his twitter feed, 14th May entry :
