UKIP are acting like fucking clowns

UKIP are  acting like  fucking clowns— they are bestrode by constant gaffs, idiocies and what is terrifying is that they are going to win an election- despite not knowing what their policies actually are .

As my friends & family will know, your humble Dude has been  trying to steering clear of politics.  But  like a moth to a flame and with an election on Thursday, it would be remiss of me not to comment on the idiocies of this group; especially as they are going to win . But don't worry. I'm not turning to Labour. One would have thought that after bankrupting the bloody country—again—the Labour Party might have learnt some humility. Apparently not. The current Labour Party is determined to bring socialism back to the country. Because that's always  worked so well, eh?But that is a story for another day.

I've said on more than one occasion I was going to vote UKIP- as a protest against the current government, not as an endorsement of them- but quite frankly, the more I look at it the less and less likely I want to vote for them. In fact the possibility is now approaching zero. I got called for saying I'd vote UKIP by a good friend of mine . So I decided to do some research, look into things. These are my conclusions.

No policies
You see to me when you have an election- any election- even a student union election- or an election  for the position of chief  ale taster - you, the  voter is entitled to ask 'What  are your policies mate?' Alas with UKIP -and this must be a modern British political first- don't actually have any  policies.Yes ! That is absolutely correct! You read right- they don't have any policies! We are told 'every policy is up for review'. And that will be decided after the elections on Thursday. So UKIP will be the largest group of UK MEP's, without the voters having a crystal clear idea of what they are voting for.Presumably they'll keep the bit about leaving Europe in there.

But let's look at the bits they are likely to keep, aside from leaving the EU-

Gay Marriage

I am also a bit  pissed off with UKIP's stance on gay marriage. It isn't the stance so much in itself that upsets me, but the fact that their opposition to gay marriage was pure political posturing and opportunism. It was an attempt to grab the social conservative vote. And this from a  'libertarian' political party! As a classical liberal myself, who has a relaxed attitude toward LGBTQ issues,  I can't see that it is any  of the state's business to tell LGBTQ people that they cannot confirm and bless their loving relationships for one another via way of marriage, nor do I think withholding legal rights for gay couples is the right thing to do in today's society. I accept that not every religion is going to want to marry people in their buildings, but they should be free to choose to do that if they want to do so.

Immigration

The other issue of this election has been immigration. I agree that there has to be a rational discussion on this subject and it is too easy to brand anyone who has concerns about unlimited - as we are in the EU we have no choice via freedom of movement- immigration to this country, with the resulting impact on social services, health, education, culture, integration etc. That being said the tone and tenor of UKIP has left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth. If Farage can say he doesn't want to live next to Bulgarians, what about Jews? Or Black people or any other minority ? Why is it OK for his [German] wife to live here and not other? Why do we need to demonise EVERY SINGLE immigrant to our country? Don't forget our mother's family  was an immigrant from a third world country, so this attitude would have applied to us as well. True he apologised  in writing for his car crash interview, where he had to be rescued from defeat by his communications chief, but then proceeded to rattle off a list of 'crimes' Bulgarian people apparently get up to.  But it isn't just that,  it feels that there is a general undercurrent of racism in the party, it just seems to have attracted some very unpleasant people to its fold and that isn't going to float my boat. Not one bit. As Sanya-Jeet Thandi said the party seems to be descending into a form of racist populism"

Fucking Clowns

Policies aside, what really, really pisses me off to high heaven are the clowns the party puts up for election, who do gaffe after gaffe, after blood gaffe & who expose themselves to holding some pretty unpleasant views. First there was Godfrey Bloom & his  sexist , then  racist 'bongo bongo' speeches. Then we hear of another candidate talking about 'traitors' who should be hung for their pro-European views. We are a democracy, not a totalitarian fascist state for heaven's sake.

But if a picture can speak a thousand words, about the tenor, attitude and general concern I have,  I'll leave you with one -

  1. Sam, I agree with you. I just don't like UKIP or whatever "policies" it comes up with. I'm skeptical of Europe, but I'm still going to vote Conservative, rather than UKIP. I also didn't like the flip flop over gay marriage. It was raw opportunism and that ain't good with a party which is trying to make out as if it is different from the rest. Clearly it isn't. And it is also ridiculous that they don't have any policies which they are going to stick to with this 'review'.

Cameron has dragged this country further into the abyss with homosexual marriage, so I, for one, have switched to UKIP.

    Regarding gay marriage -

The institution of marriage has traditionally been defined as between a man and a woman

Allowing gay couples to wed will further weaken the institution of marriage

Gay marriage could potentially lead down a "slippery slope" giving people in polygamous, incestuous, bestial, and other nontraditional relationships the right to marry

People should not have their tax dollars used to support something they believe is wrong.

Gay marriage may lead to more children being raised in same-sex households, which are not an optimum environment because children need both a mother and father

Gay marriage will accelerate the assimilation of gays into mainstream heterosexual culture to the detriment of the homosexual community.

on of marriage is sexist and oppressive; it should not be expanded but weakened

Same-sex marriage has undermined the institution of marriage in Scandinavia

Marriage is a privilege, not a right.

Marriage should not be extended to same-sex couples because they cannot produce children together

Marriage is a religious rite between one man and one woman

Gay marriage is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups

Same-sex marriage is not a civil rights issue, and conflating the issue with interracial marriage is misleading

It is clearly and explicitly condemned in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments - Leviticus 20 and Rom. 1:26-27
