Shabbat insights Part I

I shared Friday Shabbat with my sisters Hannah, Rachel  &  various friends, which was a cool experience as ever.

Start 
We start with the lighting of the candles at 8.00 pm over prayer & a song called Shalom Aleichem to welcome the Angels of Shabbat ; we then began the meal with prayers (Kiddush) over wine and bred, ritually washed our hands , at 8.20pm & finished  (or rather we went to bed) at about 2.00am in the morning, after the final song 'Bendigamos'  (Sephardi  don't rush meals/Shabbat or our discussions !).

Food 
The twins  always do good food, which is Sephardi  & British-

Challah (bread)

Tapas -
  •  Chreime (Spicy Tunisian Fish  stew/ curry)
  • Pollo de Hannah en el vino tinto (Hannah's chicken in red wine)
  • Tagine de cordero (Morrocan lamb stew/curry)
  • Hannah glücklich Salat ( 'Hannah's happy salad')
  • melón de de rachel con menta (Rachel's Melon's with mint
  • Couscous
  •  Roast Potatoes 
  •  Black and green olives 
Desert - Fruit  Salad 

Beverages
  • Kosher Wine (Red or White) for the meal, usually Israeli and one that is mevushal, as we often have non Jewish friends around.
  • Beer-  Svatý Norbert IPA [a Czech beer]  
  • A variety of non-alcoholic beverages for those who do not drink
After dinner 
  • Turkish Coffee
  • Mahia- A Morrocean fig brandy 
  • Oban Malt Whisky 
  • Cigarette or cigar
