An open condemnation of the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir

This has our support, via the the Elder of Ziyon blog :

"We unequivocally condemn the horrific murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir. It was unjustifiable under any circumstances. The killing was reprehensible and we hope that the criminals who did this sickening act are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Israel is a country run by the rule of law. There are reports that Jews have been arrested for this crime. If a trial finds that Jews are indeed guilty of this unconscionable killing, our condemnation is redoubled. The idea that Jews could do such an act fills us with shame and horror.

The people who murdered Mohammed do not represent us in any way. It is not enough to dissociate ourselves from the dreadful act; we must also ensure that crimes like this are never repeated.

Just as the appalling murders of Naftali Fraenkel, Eyal Yifrach and Gilad Shaar do not in any way justify the hideous murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, neither does Khdeir's murder justify the violence, terrorism, destruction and incitement we have seen over the past few days against Israelis and Jews.

We hope and pray that everyone, Arab and Jew, lives in peace and security in the region".

  2. Yes! Nothing that I can add except to say I agree with the letter.

  3. Agreed; whoever is responsible for this person's murder let them be brought to justice and spend a long time in prison for their crimes. If Jews are responsible for this, then they no longer have the right to call themselves Jews. They are barbarians and nothing to do with our people or religion.

What a typical rubbish Zionist editorial on Palestine, pretending that those being murdered and pillaged for 66years are equally to blame as those doing the pillaging. God is not in the real estate business and Israel has zero right to steal Palestinian land and property. The extremists ARE the Israeli government.

Perhaps we should get this in perspective, since 2000 Israel has been murdering Palestinian children at the rate of one every three to four days. The restraint shown by the Palestinians as their children are abducted and slaughtered by the Israeli army is in fact remarkable. Can one imagine the Israelis putting up with one of their children being murdered every four days, of course not. There would be worldwide condemnation and the Israelis would unleash all manner of collective retribution on the Palestinian people.

    The OCCUPATION must end.

The fact remains that the Palestinians have been disposed of their homeland. They live in appalling conditions in one of two small areas of the former Palestine.

The more peaceful West Bank run by Mahmoud Abbas fairs little better than Gaza under Hamas. In the West Bank plots of land are stolen on by one week by week, and mass illegal settlements continue to be sanctioned by the Israeli Government. Israel has built an 8 meter high wall that carves up the West Bank. This land is supposed to belong to the Palestinians!

Anyone who knows how the Palestinians are forced to exist must marvel at their resilience. It is an open secret that the Israeli strategy is to slowly nibble away at the Palestinian land, bully families one by one, so that they slowly leave for other parts.

    It isn’t fair.

The reason for the sudden appeal to establish a Jewish homeland in the late 1940’s, after a near 2000 year absence, was due primarily to the extreme action of the Nazi’s against the Jews in Europe.

Why have the Palestinians been forced to pay the price for this? Why does Israel get $7bn p/a from the USA, and Palestine gets nothing?

All this needs to be resolved, but every attempt at peace going back to Camp David is scuppered by Israel, as they don’t want peace, they want the whole area to themselves, as David Ben Gurion publicly stated numerous times.

The 1948 UN resolution 194 gave the Arabs the right to return. It has never been allowed. http://www.un.org/documents/ga/res/3/ares3.htm . In fact there are over 100 more UN resolutions regarding Israel:Palestine, which are all directed at Israel, and all have been ignored.

The Palestinians continue to live in occupied misery and nobody speaks up for them.

The Zionist apartheid state needs to be dismantled and a ONE state solution for all of democratic Palestine!

  9. You clearly feel everyone is obliged to accept UN Resolutions to the letter.

I look forward to your condemnation of the Palestinian refusal to accept a certain 1947 UN Resolution....

  10. "Why does Israel get $7bn p/a from the USA, and Palestine gets nothing?"

    Earth to atheist....

    1. US aid to Israel is rather less than $7 Billion a year. Military aid- which is the vast majority- amounts to around $3 Billion a year

    2. It is simply nonsense to assert the Palestinians get "nothing". The USA gives the PA around $200 million a year, whilst the main source of aid to Palestine is the UNWRA which gives around $2 Billion a year.

Israel spends any aid money wisely; not sure where the Pals money goes. Do you know?

  11. The kidnappings and murder of these four kids, the three Israelis and the Palestinian lad alike, were execrable acts that will appal decent people on both sides of the divide. Regrettably, that some on both sides do remain willing to contemplate such inhuman barbarities is reflective of the very intractability of this conflict in particular. The murders solve nothing and it's unrealistic to hope that any reaction will prove powerful enough to bring a resolution any nearer. Maybe the requirements of the two parties are so utterly inimical that one able to accommodate them both is unattainable.

Yet one thing is certain. The history of interventions by the world community over more than six decades now demonstrates beyond doubt that only those who are party to this war will ever be able to bring it to a close. A little less hubris and self-serving partisanship from the great and good in international affairs, along perhaps with a little less glib judgementalism, may go a long way to help both sides. At least it may provide space for both to consider more calmly and introspectively the prospect of another six decades failure to accept the simple fact of their common human aspiration to peace, security and self-determination.

  13. Agreed. We are not barbarians and this attack is utterly beyond vile. My heart goes out to he families of this murdered boy, just like they did to our teens last Monday. Revenge attacks are not the Jewish way. We need to let the law deal with all of these matters and then the authorities to take all appropriate action (as we've all agreed here on this before)>

  16. Rabbi Avi Shafran on Behalf of Agudath Israel, has got this one right :

"Reports of arrests of members of the Jewish community in connection with the recent murder of an Arab youth, Muhammad Hussein Abu Khdeir, should fill us all with revulsion.

The Jewish faith does not tolerate violence other than in self-defense and condemns murder as a grave crime. To take the life of an innocent human being is not only an indefensible, evil act but, here, brings our people down to the level of our most implacable and cruel enemies. It is a chillul Hashem, a desecration of G-d’s name.

The entire Jewish world was plunged into mourning at the news of the three innocent Jewish teens who were murdered several weeks ago by as-yet unapprehended parties. And mourning was, and is, the proper response of individuals to such crimes, not misguided attempts by vigilantes to exact “revenge,” which is the Creator’s to dispense.

May the families of both the murdered Jewish boys and the murdered Arab boy be comforted. And may governmental authorities successfully bring all the murderers to the justice that can be meted out in this world.

We beseech the Creator, the One who “makes peace in His heavens,” to send us the day soon when peace will reign over the Holy Land."

  17. None of this has anything to do with the specifics of the post. If you wish to justify criminal acts, then this isn't the forum to do it. I hope I have misunderstood your last rant. Of which, as others have noted is factually untrue. Your conclusion that 'no-one speaks up for them' is rubbish as well. There are umpteen Arab states that do (for propaganda purposes, but refuse to do any about or for Arab refugees), multiple NGO's, The Guardian, the Boycott brigade and numerous others.

  19. Exactly. I see he/she didn't get back to you on that point. Can't think why.

  20. Again factually incorrect and assertion; Jews never did steal the land of Israel and most of the land was owned by wealthy absentee landlords, who were prepared to sell the shitty bits of land to Jews, who do what they've always done and make a go of it, by turning desert and swamp into viable farmland. Gd knows where you get your stats from. As for 'the occupation must end' as you seem to consider Israel itself as being occupied, I really think you need to have a cold shower and actually read up on matters before spouting Pals propaganda.

  21. Interestingly enough, my sister Esther agrees to a one state solution, but I doubt in the same way as you are advocating. I'll see if she wants to post on this later in the week.
